EDIT:

There is now a folder for NaNo WriMo that you can submit your NaNovels to. THIS IS ONLY FOR THOSE WHO ARE DOING NANO.

I apologize that this wasn't on time! It took a while to get a good prompt. I'll let you guys still have a week to submit, but the new prompt will be ready Sunday.

Okay, to start off, I'm going to feature the lovely entries we had from the last prompt! They were all amazing, and I'll get to the critiques sometime after NaNo.

Shattered Glass Excerpt: The Restaurant
It was my first time at The Rio DiJonair. I sat in my seat, feeling a little out of place: I was wearing a fancy dress, just like all the other customers, but I felt like a little kid playing dress up. I shifted in my chair, staring out the window. The street outside was just as fancy as the decorations inside the restaurant; even the street lamps were gilded with gold. Turning to look at James, I could tell he was feeling strange too. The table between us felt like a mile long, decorated with a white silk table cloth and a gold candelabra. I unwrapped my silverware, which I suspected was real silver, and opened my mouth to speak at the same
Names are for tombstones - Workshop #1Tina sighs and leans back in her seat, the soft red leather creaking softly. Man, it has been years since she was here last time. It's an old restaurant already, situated on one of the older railway stations in her area. It must've been at least seven years ago, she was still going to college back then and didn't have a driver's license yet. She closes her eyes and takes a deep breath, savoring all the familiar smells and sounds of the old restaurant. The smell of coffee and old cigarette-smoke takes her back to those old days, the days when she was here almost every day waiting for her train to take her to school.
'Excuse me, ma'am?'
Tina opens her eyes and smiles at the waitress standing next to her, a steaming cup of hot chocolate in her hands.
'Your order, ma'am' the girl flashes a quick smile before putting the mug down and going on her business.
'Ah yes, thank you.' Tina calls after her, grinning a bit. Some things never change, the waitresses here are still busy and there's stil
TheWritingHaven, Restaurant exerciseSlowly, while snipping my cup of hot tea, I started to calm down again. I had ran away from school and now found myself in a little take away restaurant with grass green tables and chairs. It looked to be in poor state and I seemed to be the only customer in the place. There was nothing to do and the waitress had started playing with her cell phone right after she had helped me to my cup of tea. She looked like it was the normal way of things around there.

I took a big gulp of tea and burned my mouth. Great, more bad luck! Like I did not had enough of that today. On school I had just heard that I had somehow managed to get the worst score of

Do you guys all realize NaNo is TOMORROW?! That's insane. I hope you're all ready :D

Now, on to your assignment!

Write about a childhood memory. Pick a character, figure out what the memory is, and write it out for us.

This is to work on flashbacks and recalls, and to see if your character can give us information without infodumping on us. I want to hear what this person's voice sounds like. Try to cap your scene at 500 words max. Submit your deviations to the gallery folder titled: Memory Workshop. I will critique every piece that goes into that folder ;D

A last reminder; this is due in a week, next Wednesday, but I'm posting the new workshop on Sunday!

Good luck everyone!

Okay, now, I'm going to introduce those who left a comment on the last workshop. If you would like to be added into the introduction, please fill out the form below and add it as a comment to this workshop.
